With an eclectic mix of suburban and commercial, Wandsworth is a varied area where both green spaces and high street shops are always nearby. Victorian houses and flats can be found on East Hill, just south of the High Street and close to good schools and Wandsworth Common. The Tonsbys attracts young families as it includes small terraced Victorian houses and flats along Tonsley Hill, Tonsley Place and Alma Road, as well as excellent restaurants and pubs on Old York Road. There are new developments of modern flats in the Riverside Area, including Riverside Quarter and Battersea Reach and development has recently begun on the Old Young’s Brewery; set to home flats, shops, catering and public amenity spaces in the Ram’s Quarter.
Wandsworth has a few local pubs, such as The Grapes, that are well-loved by residents in the area.
Nearby Primary Schools include Allfarthing Primary School, St Ann’s CofE Primary School, St Faith’s CofE Primary School and independent schools Wandsworth Preparatory School and The Roche School.
There is also impressive secondary education, including Ashcroft Tech Academy and Putney High School.
Wandsworth Town Station is on the mainline into Clapham Junction, giving access into the city via Waterloo and Victoria.
There are also good bus routes to the West End, Putney, Richmond and Wimbledon.
East Putney – District Line
There are two beautiful commons in Wandsworth: Wandsworth Common and Tooting Common. Wandsworth Common is a local favourite, hosting ecological and ornamental areas, sports pitches, tennis and bowling and a play area and trim trail for children. There is also a lake where members can fish during fishing season.

Tooting Common is the largest green area in Wandsworth and boasts an impressive selection of facilities including an athletics track, activity centre, sports pitches, wildlife areas and youth clubs. It is a site of metropolitan importance and nature conservation with extensive areas of woodland and two ponds.
Wandsworth boasts a variety of places for shopping and dining, with the town centre currently undergoing regeneration and the Southside shopping centre recently being redone. Old York Road is particularly notable for its selection of excellent and popular restaurants, boasting a variety of authentic cuisines from all over the world. Doukan, a classic Moroccan restaurant with a peaceful atmosphere during the day, was even shortlisted as a finalist in the world food category for Gordon Ramsay’s programme.
